Tom Bergeron Speaks Out on Twitter as Tyra Banks Replaces Him on 'Dancing With the Stars'

From Good Housekeeping

  • Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews won't be coming back to Dancing With the Stars this fall as the show's hosts.

  • The ABC series announced that Tyra Banks will be the host and an executive producer for season 29.

  • Here's how Tom and DWTS fans reacted to the news.

Tom Bergeron appears to be taking his recent Dancing With the Stars exit in stride.

Earlier this week, Tom broke the news that the ABC show would be continuing without him as a co-host. On Twitter, he wrote that he felt "grateful" for the experience and "lifelong friendships" he's made since joining Dancing With the Stars in 2005.

Around the same time, it was also revealed that Erin Andrews, Tom's co-host since 2014, would also not be returning in the fall. Like Tom, Erin was also thankful for her time on the show, writing on social media, "those years wouldn't have been as special without my loving host Tom Bergeron, the talented dancers, and witty judges."

A day later, Dancing With the Stars announced that Tyra Banks would instead be the show's solo host and work as an executive producer. After hearing that Tyra was replacing him, Tom hopped on Twitter once again — and true to character, the comedian had a little joke in store.

"I guess I won't be getting back my monogrammed towels," he quipped, referencing his and Tyra's shared initials. Hilariously, Erin tweeted back, "You got towels @Tom_Bergeron??," to which Tom replied, "I'm sorry this is how you had to find out #TerryCloth."

Since Tyra was introduced as the next host, many fans have expressed their excitement online. "We see you @tyrabanks I'm quite intrigued @DancingABC and can't wait to watch! Shout out to @Tom_Bergeron @ErinAndrews for all the awesome #DWTS memories!," one fan wrote. "I admit I was sad to hear of the firing of @ErinAndrews and @Tom_Bergeron, but I also admit I'm excited @tyrabanks is stepping in. She'll be an awesome addition!!! #DWTS," another said.

At the same time, it's clear that folks are little bummed that neither Erin nor Tom will be on the show any longer. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba wrote, "Tom and Erin will truly be missed. We have been a family for many years and that will never change. It's been amazing working with them both, and I wish them nothing but the best... We will always be connected through love and respect...and glitter and fake tan."
