Tomi Lahren calls border patrol agents 'humanitarians' as 2,000 children are taken from their parents

One would think that, despite having opposing political beliefs, people could agree that children should not be separated from their parents.

Yet President Trump, whose own mother was a Scottish immigrant, says that Democrats want illegal immigrants to “infest our country.”

That mindset is simply untrue. Most people just don’t want to see nearly 2,000 children separated from their parents, thanks to the Trump’s administration’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy.

But that hasn’t swayed conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren, who evidently believes Border Patrol agents are humanitarians. Which only proves that the former TV host does not actually know the definition of “humanitarian.”

To be fair, who doesn’t tweet stuff they know nothing about? Once, a long time ago, I wrote that Facebook didn’t need a chat function since we already had AOL Instant Messenger. Oops!

Still, can’t we all agree on the basics? A humanitarian is someone who promotes human welfare. According to Wikipedia, humanitarianism is “an active belief in the value of human life, whereby humans practice benevolent treatment and provide assistance to other humans, in order to better humanity for moral, altruistic and logical reasons.”

This type of enforcement for families who are seeking better lives for their children can have profound negative impacts. Immigration enforcement can cause severe psychological disorders, including PTSD.

We are lucky. Our families have had the advantage of two, three, four or more generations in America. It’s just basic: Children should not be separated from their parents.
