Twitter roasts Tomi Lahren after she criticizes Gillette ad featuring dad teaching transgender son to shave
A new Gillette ad that shows a transgender man, artist and activist Samson Bonkeabantu Brown, being taught to shave by his father has been lauded for being inclusive to the LGBTQ community.
But conservative commentator Tomi Lahren has criticized the campaign, saying that it is “a little much to normalize and promote high-school-aged kids undergoing hormone therapy and gender reassignment.” (A spokeswoman for Gillette declined to share Bonkeabantu Brown’s exact age out of respect for his privacy, but confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that he is not a teenager.)

While other conservatives have threatened to boycott the grooming brand, which has pledged to step away from “toxic masculinity,” Lahren’s tweet drew swift backlash. Critics have accused her of “reacting out of fear or prejudice,” and argued that the ad would help transgender youths.
While I don’t personally agree with all teenage kids taking hormones, some do and this is a positive representation for them. It’s good for them to see others like them, with supportive family.

Thank you so much for calling attention to this. I hadn’t seen the ad nor known of it before your tweet. Now I will only buy @Gillette razors so I can support their positive message. I’ll show the ad to my kids too so they can see that a boy learning to shave is, yes, normal.

Here's what I think: As a high school teacher for 31 years, I have taught many trans kids. Not one of them woke up one morning thinking "Ooh! I think I'll be trans in high school. Good times! So much bullying!" They are brave as hell and maybe this ad helps.
