Women's Health recently spoke to a variety of podiatrists from across the country, who offered up some tips. While boots are a good footwear option for people with bad ankles, as they offer support on both sides, there are two things you should look for. First, you should find a shoe with a heel that is less than 2 inches to avoid pushing weight on the front of your foot. It is also important to have a thicker heel, because it offers more stability and decreases your chances of a sprained ankle. If you plan on wearing your boots in inclement weather, you'll also need a pair with a grippy rubber sole.
