Tori Spelling mom-shamed over 8-year-old daughter's purple hair in Halloween pic: 'Parenting gone wrong'

Tori Spelling’s photo documenting a family trip to a pumpkin patch for Halloween had a commenter seeing red over her younger daughter’s rosy hair. Now, fans of the Beverly Hills, 90210 star are standing up to the mom-shaming.

Spelling posted an Instagram snap of her large brood — she and actor husband Dean McDermott have five kids, ranging in age from 2 to 12 — enjoying some autumnal activities at a local pumpkin patch. The star’s younger daughter, 8-year-old Hattie, stands front and center in the photo, showing off cherry cola-hued hair that appears to either have been dyed or colored with a hair spray.

While the youngster has had tinted streaks in recent photos shared by her famous mom, her new, more dramatic ‘do caught the attention of one disapproving commenter.

“Why would you let your daughter have red hair?” the commenter wrote. “Parenting gone wrong.

“I would NEVER dye my kids’ hair at all at a young age,” she added when Spelling’s fans pushed back against the criticism. “When they get older and CAN make their OWN decisions then they can do whatever they want.

“A child that young shouldn’t have their hair colored at all,” she continued.” They should embrace their beauty and naturalness.

“I don’t think that child should have her hair like that. She should embrace her natural beauty.”

Spelling supporters, meanwhile, rose to her defense and called the critic a “busy body.”

“I think you need to get a friggin’ life,” one wrote. “Ever think maybe it’s part of her Halloween costume??”

“Why are you judging someone else’s parenting?” read another comment.

“I just dyed my 9-year-old daughter’s hair purple. I guess I’m a terrible parent,” fired back another fan.

“Not your kid, not your business, shut it,” added a supporter.

Spelling isn’t the only celebrity parent who has been mom-shamed for letting her daughter rock colored hair. This summer, Jessica Simpson caught flak for her 7-year-old daughter Maxwell’s purple makeover, prompting Pink to turn 8-year-old daughter Willow’s hair blue in a show of solidarity.
