Tracee Ellis Ross Goes Strapless in Pink Marni Dress and Trenchcoat for ‘American Fiction’ Screening
Tracee Ellis Ross made a soft arrival to a special screening of “American Fiction” in Los Angeles on Tuesday, putting a fall twist on Barbiecore dressing in a Marni maxidress.
The actress, who stars in the upcoming film, wore a blush pink strapless frock paired with a beige trenchcoat. Her ensemble, styled by Karla Welch, was from the brand’s spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection.

Helmed by creative director Francesco Risso, WWD reported the “eclectic spring collection was about joy and rebellion,” adding “Risso put his stamp on the surroundings with a coed lineup that doubled down on brand codes such as stripes, checks and flowers, all done with an unapologetically eccentric twist.”
Regarding her style, Ross has been adding vibrant pops of color to layered winter-ready looks, with this one being her latest. She arrived at the “Candy Cane Lane” movie premiere in November wearing a black Brandon Blackwood gown with a yellow cape.
Along with her acting career, Ross is the founder of hair care brand Pattern Beauty, which offers styling products, hair accessories and tools for curly hair.
“I have built a business that requires all of us to lean in with our hearts and not just our minds in service of the curly, coily and tight-textured community — that North Star is the magic of what we do,” Ross told WWD in an April interview.
Ross stars in the film alongside Jeffrey Wright, Sterling K. Brown and Issa Rae. Its plot centers around a Black novelist and professor who writes an unorthodox book that makes unexpected waves in the literary industry and culture. Produced by Amazon and MGM Studios, “American Fiction” will be released in theaters on Dec. 15.
