It’s officially the end of an era for Trevor Noah. The former Daily Show host listed his Hell’s Kitchen penthouse—which is just a short walk away from the satirical news show’s studio—last fall with a $12.95 million asking price. According to the New York Post, the 3,596-square-foot condo just sold for $9.5 million. Noah shelled out $10 million for the three-bedroom, four-bathroom home in 2017 and completed some extensive renovations, including switching up the layout of the two-story dwelling. All that to say, the comedian took a bit of a loss on the sale.
The South Africa native previously took a hit on the sale of a tranquil Japanese-inspired Bel Air mansion, which was designed by architect Mark Rios. Noah spent $27.5 million on the luxe dwelling, a six-bedroom, 11-bathroom home which featured a theater, a rooftop terrace, and a ryokan-inspired spa, to name just a few of the amenities. Just nine months later, the Born a Crime author relisted it with a $29.75 price tag, but the 11,375-square-foot manse did not sell until almost half a year later for $26.4 million.
Noah’s former Manhattan digs perch atop the Stella Tower, an Art Deco structure built by architect Ralph Walker in 1927. The 17-story building was converted into luxury condos in 2014. The penthouse unit boasts a 1,000-square-foot landscaped terrace equipped with a plunge pool tucked beneath a teak wood pergola, plus a wet bar, plentiful spots to lounge or dine, and unobstructed city views.
Inside, a modern dine-in kitchen with striking white stone counters connects to the airy great room via a trio of soaring arched wall openings. Down a winding black floating staircase, the lower level hosts the three bedrooms, one of which has been converted into a dark theater complete with black shag carpet and leather recliners.
