What’s the best Pringles flavor? It sounds like a question that shouldn’t have an objective answer.

But, if you look online, you’ll realize not everyone feels that way. Worldwide, there have been well over 100 different flavors of the snackable, stackable chips, and everyone has an opinion about the “real” best one.

So we set out to try all of them. Since that’s a lot of pulling chips out of cans, we got some help from this gadget: the Pringles Puller.

This affordable little gadget is extremely niche, but when it comes to pulling Pringles, there’s nothing better. It’s basically a hook that helps save those annoying final chips that get caught at the bottom of the can.

With our Pringles Puller in hand, we rolled up our sleeves and got started. In The Know producer Poppy Shen bought 20 cans of Pringles — as many as she could find in any store nearby.

Twenty isn’t every flavor, but it’s close enough to make a very informed opinion (and probably get a stomachache). To see our top-rated flavors, keep reading below or watch the video above.

What’s the best Pringles flavor? Here are our top 3 chips

We rated each of our 20 flavors on a simple one-to-10 scale. Here are the chips we tested, sorted into a few key categories:

  • Regular:

  • Original
    Barbecue
    Cheddar cheese
    Cheddar and sour cream
    Sour cream and onion
    Jalapeño
    Pizza
    Salt & vinegar
    Dill pickle
    Paprika
    Fried onion rings
    Ketchup

  • Wavy:

  • Applewood smoked cheddar
    Classic salted
    Fire-roasted jalapeño
    Sweet and spicy barbecue
    Moa burger

  • Scorchin’ (hot):

  • Chili lime
    Barbecue

  • Light:

  • Reduced-fat

Now, for our favorites. After hours of chomping, munching, crunching and deliberating, Poppy made her picks. Three chips stood out above all the rest:

  • First place: Dill pickle. One of the original Pringles chips to follow the “chips that taste like other foods” mold, the dill pickle flavor remains a fan-favorite to this day. It’s tangy, zesty, salty and still tastes just enough like a Pringle to keep you snacking indefinitely.

  • Second place: Scorchin Barbecue. If there’s anything better than barbecue, it’s spicy barbecue. This tongue-torching flavor is a spiced-up version of the classic barbecue flavor — a classic in its own right.

  • Third place: Moa Burger. This special-edition chip, released in early 2021 as a collaboration with Microsoft, is inspired by the Halo video game series. The name is drawn from the game’s fictional “moa bird,” but its flavor is like a chip version of the best hamburger you’ve ever eaten.

So there you have it: A definite, totally objective rating of the greatest chip flavors out there — that is, until Pringles releases another new flavor and ruins this entire list.
