Twitter leaps to Oprah's defense after Trump calls her 'insecure'

President Trump has found a new tweet target: Oprah Winfrey.

As HuffPost reports, the president took offense to a 60 Minutes segment Sunday night in which Winfrey spoke to Michigan voters about their political concerns. Though Winfrey has dismissed speculation about a 2020 presidential bid, Trump — who has spoken positively about the former talk show host in the past — tweeted that he wanted her to run so that she could be “exposed and defeated.”

The president, who is in Florida in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, also called the billionaire “very insecure.” That description rubbed many folks — including bestselling authors Roxane Gay (Hunger) and Terry McMillan (How Stella Got Her Groove Back), and The Mindy Project actor Ike Barinholtz — the wrong way.

This GIF might sum it up best, though.

Truly, a battle for the ages — or 2018, at least.
