Twitter demands expulsion of UNT student who went viral for 'disgusting and cruel' Beto O'Rourke T-shirt prank

A student who relieved himself on a Beto O’Rourke T-shirt and gave it away is being investigated at the University of North Texas.

The student, who goes by Chandler Davis on social media, documented the disgusting act on Snapchat, and it went viral after it made its way to Twitter the day after Election Day.

In the beginning, Davis filmed himself gagging at the sight of students chanting, “it’s time to vote.” He captions that part of the video, “by far the grossest thing i’ve yet to see on this campus.”

Then he cuts to a bathroom, where he showed himself urinating on a Beto O’Rourke T-shirt while shouting, “yeah! Vote for Beto boys!” before dropping it in the toilet.

It gets worse. He then hits the streets holding the tee, offering it to random people. “Do any of y’all want a free Beto shirt? It got soaked, but if one of y’all want it…here you go,” he says before handing the T-shirt to a young woman.

A fellow UNT student shared the video on Twitter, and it now has 114k views. “I’m at a loss for words, this is disgusting and cruel. Don’t care what your political views are, this was not necessary,” @Bebe_celeste13 shared.

Most of the people responding agree that this is disgraceful. “He needs to be arrested or charged. That’s unacceptable,” Ernie Sanchez wrote. Jada Rita agreed: “Praying for individuals like him. This is unacceptable and should not be taken lightly.”

When users began demanding Davis’s expulsion, the university responded.

“All UNT students are held to our student code of conduct, and we expect the UNT community to represent our values of respect and compassion,” the school’s associate director of news told Yahoo Lifestyle in a statement. “UNT Police are actively investigating this incident.”

According to the UNT crime log, the incident, which is being referred to as “assault by contact,” was brought to the dean of students’ attention, who then referred it to the campus police. The case is still pending.

Davis responded, too, according to another Twitter user.

The student has not responded to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment.
