Twitter users go wild for the pink scrunchie Jason Momoa rocked at the Oscars

Jason Momoa stole the show on the Oscars red carpet thanks to a pink scrunchie worn around his wrist.

This year’s Oscars ceremony may have lacked the meme-worthy hilarity of the Golden Globes’ Fiji Water Girl, but instead it was the 39-year-old ‘Games of Thrones’ star’s tiny accessory that took social media by storm.

Twitter users went crazy for the detail, with few missing the novelty of the larger-than-life 6″4 star breaking gender boundaries with the feminine hair tie.

Some even suggested Momoa deserved an award for wearing the scrunchie.

Headline-grabbing hair accessory aside, Momoa matched his wife, actress Lisa Bonet, in a dusky pink velvet tuxedo.

Bonet, 51, meanwhile wore a pink high-necked gown with a netting design. Both outfits were by Fendi and designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld.

“We have the honour of wearing Karl Lagerfeld, he designed Jason’s tux personally for him and this is from his last couture collection from Fendi,” Bonet confirmed on ABC’s red carpet pre-show.

Momoa wasn’t the only star to break gender boundaries last night at the Oscars, with Billy Porter shutting down the red carpet in a velvet tuxedo gown by Christian Siriano.
