Tyra Banks Is the New Host of 'DWTS,' and Tom Bergeron Has Some Thoughts

Start practicing your smize, because Tyra Banks is the new host and executive producer of Dancing with the Stars. The model, producer, businesswoman, and former host of America's Next Top Model and America's Got Talent will be replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews who previously shared hosting duties.

"I’ve been a fan of 'DWTS' since its beginning ... The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances ... it’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk," Banks said in a statement. "Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats."

Bergeron, who hosted the show for the past 15 years, was quick to comment on Twitter, noting that he "wouldn't be getting his monogrammed towels back."

DWTS judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli have also commented on the show parting ways with the former hosts.

"Tom and Erin will truly be missed," Inaba wrote in her tweet. "We have been a family for many years and that will never change. It's been amazing working with them both, and I wish them nothing but the best... We will always be connected through love and respect...and glitter and fake tan."

"Dear @Tom_Bergeron I will miss you so much my friend we had an amazing 15 years #DWTS your charm Witt professionalisms have being integral to the show success," Tonioli wrote. He also addressed Andrews' exit, writing "My darling @ErinAndrews it has being such pleasure and fun working with you especially our little banters backstage before going live."

As for the future of the competition dance series, Banks told Good Morning America that things are about to be shaken up. "It is gonna be so next level. I am having meetings with the producer that I walked in to join, Andrew Llinares, and... he's like, 'Tyra, you just don’t know. It's gonna be next level,'" she said. "We're doing all this crazy stuff, taking to the next level, but still keeping the stuff that we know America loves. But you need to get ready, 'cause it’s gonna be different."

DWTS is set to return to ABC this fall, though no official premier date has been set. It will air Monday nights live on ABC from 8 to 10 p.m. ET.
