Victoria Beckham might wear Crocs in public, and we have Justin Bieber to thank.
Apparently, Bieber is looking for the next brand ambassador for his fashion company, Drew House, and he has eyes set on Posh Spice. Beckham revealed on Instagram that Bieber sent her a pair of lavender Crocs (yes, the foam slip-ons), part of a collaboration with his Drew line, and she was considering wearing them. Maybe.
In a series of Stories posted on April 27, Beckham asked, “A lot of people have been asking me what I’m planning on wearing after lockdown…what do we think about this suggestion from @justinbieber?!” and then showed off the shoes, which are adorned with cartoon characters.
She even added a poll, asking followers to predict whether or not she would be rocking Crocs some time soon. Given that Victoria Beckham’s own line is all about clean cuts and precise tailoring—and that she’s been seen almost exclusively in stilettos for the past…we can’t even remember how long…we predict no. Sadly, she’s probably not going to wear these unless she’s literally gardening.
Laughing and sounding a little mystified, to be honest, Beckham filmed the shoes and narrated, “Okay, this is so kind, Justin, to send me some Crocs…. Um, never worn a pair of Crocs. They did make me laugh. It is the thought that counts. Thank you so much. Not quite sure what to say about this, but thank you, very sweet.” Precisely our reaction every time we open a well-meaning gift from an aunt or uncle who doesn’t know us at all.
People reports that Justin Bieber launched his first Crocs collaboration last October, and that this new collection not only sold out in minutes but reportedly crashed the Crocs website as fans rushed to purchase the line. This makes Beckham’s pair something of a limited-edition collector’s item! But will that be enough to get them on her feet? We’ll see.
