In A Star Is Born, one of the most notable features of Lady Gaga’s character, Ally, is that she didn’t wear any makeup - something Bradley Cooper insisted on. In fact, during the filming of her screen test, Cooper had her wipe away all of her makeup because he wanted to see her “completely open.”

While Gaga says this was a bit difficult at first, she totally embraced it, and she’s not exactly a stranger to the natural look. Even at the Oscars, one of the most glamorous nights in Hollywood, she rocked fresh skin and a pink pout.

And in a photo posted to Instagram yesterday, Gaga once again proves she looks absolutely stunning in bare skin, letting her eyes (and the 128-carat yellow Tiffany diamond around her neck) shine.

While the iconic necklace last worn by Audrey Hepburn definitely steals some sparkle, we couldn’t stop staring at Gaga’s flawless complexion, including those adorable freckles.

So what’s her secret? In addition to keeping up with consistent workouts (have you seen her abs?!) and eating a nutrient-rich diet, Gaga simply takes good care of her skin.

In a recent interview with Refinery 29, her makeup artist Sarah Tanno revealed that she actually loves to use a vitamin C serum, specifically Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum, to tighten and brighten Gaga’s skin for her signature glowing look.

In addition to vitamin C (an antioxidant that fights free radicals that damage the skin), the serum contains collagen to keep skin bouncy, nourishing orange and green-tea extracts, and soothing aloe juice for a boost of moisture.

“Vitamin C helps produce collagen (which keeps skin firm and reduces the appearance of wrinkles), and protects skin from sun damage and dark spots,” Ranella Hirsch, MD, a board-certified dermatologist practicing in Boston, MA told Prevention. “Between these varied functions, the majority of folks can benefit from having vitamin C in their skin care routine.” Vitamin C also has a brightening effect, leaving behind a healthy, glowing complexion.

Tanno also uses a hydrating face cream from By Terry, a face oil from Vitner’s Daughter, and a nourishing lip balm from Sisley to finish off Gaga’s skin prep.

“When it comes to beauty and inspiration, I have met my match,” Tanno told Today back in September. “We are really always on the same page and have the same taste so it makes our collaborations seamless. She’s my muse.”
