Update, 10/5: Two weeks ago, the first trailer for Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard's film Allied was released right in the midst of the craze over Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce and shortly after rumors spread that the actor and his costar had an affair. Cotillard publicly shot down the infidelity rumors the next day, and news on the Brangelina divorce has died down since then, but Allied still remains a topic of interest.

Today, Paramount Pictures released a new trailer for the upcoming World War II drama. In it, we see British intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt) and French resistance fighter named Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) go undercover as a couple for a top secret mission, but later on fall in love and get married. Though they happily start a family together, Max's colleagues tell him his wife might actually be a Nazi spy-and he has 72 hours to find out whether that's true.

Allied hits theaters on Nov. 3. Watch the trailer below.

Original post, 9/20: On Tuesday, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced they were getting a divorce. And within seconds, there was deafening speculation about what went wrong. TMZ reports that Jolie was "extremely upset" with how Pitt parented their children, while Page Six is reporting that a movie-set affair led to their divorce.

TMZ reports that no "third person" was involved in the couple's breakup. But Page Six reports that Jolie caught Pitt having an affair with his costar, Marion Cotillard. (Cotillard's rep vehemently denied reports of an affair, insisting she was still with her longtime partner, Guillaume Canet.) No matter the actual truth of the situation, the movie, Allied, has now gone from a possible Oscar contender to the center of a tabloid swarm. Can it be both? Here's what you need to know about the epic drama, both on and off the set.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the man behind movies like Forrest Gump and Back to the Future, Allied is set in 1942 and is based on real-life wartime stories that screenwriter Steve Knight heard. Pitt plays a British intelligence officer, and Cotillard plays a French Resistance fighter.

The two characters meet on a high-profile mission in Casablanca, and have to pretend to be married to keep undercover. Later, they reunite in London, and fall in love for real, but "their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war," according to the studio's description.

The people behind the movie have been promoting the intense chemistry between Pitt and Cotillard for months now. "Brad and Marion immediately had the utmost respect for each other, so once they delved into their characters, their chemistry was electric," producer Graham King told People back in August. "It was crucial for Brad and Marion to not only begin rehearsing together before the shoot, but they also spent a lot of time developing their characters with the director, Robert Zemeckis. By the time we got to set, it was really amazing to see these characters already feel lived in and real."

The movie also stars Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Goode, and will be released in theaters on November 23. Watch the teaser trailer below:
