Warmer days have finally arrived in much of the country, but while many places are back in lockdown, streaming services have made it easier to get our minds off the current climate. There's a whole new slate of exciting films and series making their debut in April, from buzzy awards-show favourites to hot new TV shows.

Movie buffs will be sure to appreciate that "Nomadland" (a likely pick to win this year's Oscar for Best Picture) will be available to stream this month on Disney+ Star, while fans of Jack Ryan will also be able to indulge in a new film based on the Tom Clancy novels, "Without Remorse," starring Michael B. Jordan.

When it comes to series, fan-favourite "The Handmaid's Tale" returns for an exciting fourth season on Crave, and Kate Winslet leads in a seven-part detective drama "Mare of Easttown" that's already receiving rave reviews.

This series follows a thirty-something woman (Cristin Milioti) on the run after 10 years in a suffocating marriage to a tech billionaire (Billy Magnussen). He has implanted a monitoring device in her brain, which allows him to track her every move. Streams April 16.

A stowaway on a mission to Mars sets off a series of unintended consequences when an unplanned passenger jeopardizes the lives of everyone on board. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim and Shamier Anderson. Streams April 22.

Based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Tom Clancy, this film stars Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Jodie Turner-Smith. This Oscar-nominated, award-winning film starring Frances McDormand is finally going to be available for movie goers on Disney+ Star on April 9. Directed by Chloe Zhao, "Nomadland" follows Fern (McDormand) as she packs her van and sets off on the road as a modern-day nomad. The film features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors.
