When it comes to handbags, this season's newest 'It' bags are smaller than ever
They say that trends swing back and forth like a pendulum, alternating from one end of the spectrum to another in a short period of time. Think of the switch from bootleg to skinny jeans, which are now heading back towards wider silhouettes and away from the body-hugging skinnies that have been so popular in recent years.
Like denim, other aspects of the fashion industry have been trending away from styles that we’ve grown to love, only to turn sharply in the opposite direction. After many years of oversized handbags ruling the runways, we’ve reached a point where dainty handbags and clutches are the norm.
Designers love to push the envelope even further, and we’ve gone from wallet-sized pouches to the tiniest handbags imaginable. These itty-bitty handbags have been making waves less for their actual practicality and more for their novelty, especially when they look more like jewelry than anything you’d want to store your belongings in.
Though they do look pretty silly, retailers have started stocking up on micro purses this season in fun colours and patterns. Though they really only hold enough room for a lipstick and a card (if you’re lucky) this fun fashion trend doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.
Have a look through our selection of micro bags at every price point, and let us know your thoughts on this pint-sized trend.
