As the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown and self-isolation continues at home, a lot of us are looking to update our space as we embark on some painting and decorating projects.

On Monday 4th January, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a third national lockdown in England to help curb the spread of COVID-19. The majority of shops have closed again, and even with the exception of hardware stores being listed as 'essential', many have remained closed in order to abide by the government's social distancing guidelines.

Additionally, police guidance has stated that going out to buy paint and brushes simply to redecorate a kitchen, for example, is not a 'reasonable excuse' for someone to leave their home during the coronavirus lockdown.

So many of us are left asking the same question, 'Where can I buy paint online?'

You'll find some retailers and paint manufacturers are currently experiencing knock-on effects as a result of coronavirus, with issues including limited supplies, logistical issues and increased product demand.

If you're looking for the best places to buy paint online, whether it's interior paint for walls and ceilings, kitchen or bathroom paint, or masonry paints for exteriors, see a list of retailers – and the types of paint available to buy – below.

Designer Paint

Designer Paint is still making deliveries for online orders, and is following the advice of Public Health England. Designer Paint offers the widest choice of paints online based on colour, finish and surface. Brands include Dulux Heritage, Rust-Oleum, Little Greene, Graham & Brown, Farrow & Ball and many more. You can also buy decorating essentials, such as brushes and rollers.

Wickes is still selling paint online. Depending what time you visit the website, you may encounter a queuing system which requires you to wait before being allowed to browse. We found most paints to be in stock and available to order for home delivery – though there are restrictions and some are only Click & Collect. You can find interior wall & ceiling paint, furniture & cupboard paint, and undercoats and primers. Brands include Dulux, Sandtex, Ronseal, and Wickes' own-brand paint. Additionally, there are several mix & match offers currently online.
