Why Emily Ratajkowski didn't get married in white

Emily Ratajkowski has opened up about how she decided what to wear for her wedding – and why she didn't want to wear white. The model tied the knot in a surprise ceremony to Sebastian Bear-McClard in February wearing a mustard trouser suit from Zara.

"I never loved the idea of wearing white for a wedding because I'm not a pure woman," she told Vanity Fair. "I'm a woman with a lot of character and experience and life. I also just loved the idea of a suit, especially at City Hall because it's like you're taking care of business. I really wanted to wear red actually, initially... and then I just loved mustard yellow and just knew it was the one."

Ratajkowski also explained that she had planned to keep her wedding secret – and wanted to throw the press off with her ensemble.

"It all felt very 'heist movie', because all of my girlfriends were in suits, too, and I wasn't wearing white, so I kept passing the bouquet of flowers to them, like, 'Decoy, decoy!'"

However, the couple only managed to keep the news secret for a few hours before Ratajkowski received a call from her publicist saying that the story was about to break, so the model announced the news on her own social media.

"At the time I was like, 'But I was wearing a hat?!' My publicist was like, 'First of all, it's public record'."

"I did not expect everyone to find out, which I realise now is obviously very stupid," she said. "I'm living in an alternative universe."
