Here’s Why Kate Middleton Is Being Asked to Recycle an Old Dress for Her Next Big Night Out

There’s a good chance Kate Middleton will recycle an old outfit during her next public outing, and there’s a totally valid reason why.

Over the weekend, the official @KensingtonRoyal Twitter account revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s next engagement will take place on Sunday, February 2. The couple will attend the BAFTA Awards, which are the U.K. equivalent of the Oscarsat the Royal Albert Hall in London.

However, this won’t be any ordinary awards show, since there’s a strict (sorta) dress code. According to the London College of Fashion, guests have been asked to “dress sustainably.” This means attendees will either rent or re-wear gowns they have in their closets. If they decide to purchase a new dress, they’re encouraged to choose from a list of sustainable brands, including Reformation and Stella McCartney.

“Sustainability is very important to BAFTA, and we’re doing more than ever before,” a spokesperson told Harper’s Bazaar. “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.”

Lucky for her, Middleton has a plethora of options to choose from. Like the pink Stella McCartney dress she wore to baby Archie’s christening, perhaps?
