Why Meghan wasn't mentioned in birth announcement

You'll probably have heard the news by now: Prince William and Kate Middleton have become parents a third time over to a new little baby boy. Kensington Palace's official Twitter account announced the news shortly after 1pm this afternoon, sharing some of the details surrounding the little Prince's birth.

In a second tweet, the Palace confirmed that news of the birth had reached other members of the royal family, and that they were "delighted" - but there was one person in particular who appeared to be missing from that list.

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news," the tweet read. So, er, where was Meghan Markle's mention?

What with her upcoming wedding to Prince Harry (26 days and counting), Meghan has become a core member of the Royal family, making official visits, giving speeches, and even being invited into the royal box for Queen Elizabeth's 92nd birthday. I mean, if that doesn't confirm you're in the inner circle...

Despite this, no mention was made of the former Suits actress in the Kensington Palace tweet. Since Twitter extended the length of a tweet to 280 characters last year, it can't be put down to running out of space, so why was she missed out?

Most likely, it's because her wedding to Harry hasn't taken place yet. Until then, she's not an official Royal. She's basically in the fold, but not technically. While Kensington Palace haven't confirmed this is the case (we reached out, of course, but they're probably pretty busy right now) we reckon if Kate's birth had taken place a month later, Meghan's name would have been mentioned in the announcement, too. So we highly doubt she's taken offence.

Seeing as she will become aunty to the new little boy, we're just going to assume that Meghan was intended to be included in the "members of both families" part, along with Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and her siblings, Pippa and James.

We're sure both Prince Harry and his wife-to-be are chuffed with the news of the new arrival, and that they'll be sneaking over to Will and Kate's place soon for a cuddle.
