This Is Why Melania Trump Often Appears Miserable, According to Former House Speaker John Boehner

It has been 22 days and counting since we saw First Lady Melania Trump publicly.

The last Melania sighting was three weeks ago, on May 10, when Trump joined the President at Joint Base Andrews to welcome home three American detainees from North Korea.

However, her recent absence from the public eye isn't completely unreasonable. On May 14, Melania had surgery for a benign kidney condition at Walter Reed Military Hospital. Though she was released six days post-op for a surgery that typically has a same-day discharge procedure, the operation was apparently a resounding success, according to the White House.

As the days turned into weeks since FLOTUS made an appearance publicly, the American people began to question: Where is Melania? Some believed she moved out of the White House, which isn't so far-fetched, at least not to former house speaker John Boehner.

The politician even suggested that her new life on Capitol Hill may also be why she often looks miserable. "I think Donald Trump promised Melania that he would not win. She didn't have to worry about ever living in the White House," he joked while speaking at a conference. "It's probably why she doesn't look real happy every day. Well, maybe one reason."

All jokes aside, Boehner's theory is in line with a source close to Melania, who told People that she isn't happy with the way things are going at the White House.

“What’s happening is exactly what she didn’t want to happen,” the source revealed. “They’ve literally become like the Kardashians: scandals, divorces, headlines.”

The insider continued: "No one was paying attention to her two years ago. They went about their day. Now it’s a 24/7 tornado. She hates it.”

Further proof Boehner may not be wrong with his assessment? In a Vanity Fair profile, an unnamed Trump source told the magazine Melania did not want her husband to win the presidency. She "didn’t want [the presidency] come hell or high water. I don't think she thought it was going to happen," the source said.
