Why wearing socks in bed could improve your sex life

There are some of us that wear socks in bed, and then those that shudder at the thought.

After all, we want to keep our toes warm in the winter months and often simply can’t be bothered to take them off (which is why it could be considered a bit gross after wearing them all day).

But, far from a bad habit, keeping your feet covered at night is actually pretty good for you – and your love life, apparently.

According to Metro, a University of Groningen study found that 80% of couples provided with socks to put on were able to orgasm during sex.

That’s compared to just 50% who could without.

And according to Sleep.org, keeping your feet warm at bedtime will also help you sleep well; doing so causes blood vessels to dilate, and so heat is redistributed throughout the body to prepare for sleep.

Some research has also shown that the dilation of extremities (also known as ‘vasodilation’) in the hands and feet means it takes less time to fall asleep.

That 30% is a pretty big difference and wearing socks isn’t exactly a life-changing lifestyle tweak. We’d be willing to try it.

And if the thought of wearing a long day’s sweaty socks turns you off, how about putting on a fresh pair?
