Windsor Castle Just Unveiled Its 2021 Christmas Decorations

The holiday season is officially underway—and one of England's most opulent homes, Windsor Castle, has unveiled its Christmas decorations for 2021. Last week, Royal Collection Trust transformed the residence, bringing in festive lights and garlands—and of course, no shortage of Christmas trees.

Through January 3rd, anyone who visits Windsor Castle will see the State Apartments in all of their Christmas glory, including a 20-foot-high Christmas tree sourced from Windsor Great Park. Standing tall in St. George's Hall, the towering evergreen—decked out in both mirrored and glass ornaments—is quite a magnificent sight.

The Castle's spectacular semi-state rooms—which served as private apartments for George IV and are now utilized by the the British Royal Family—are also worth a visit. If you go, be sure to stop by the Crimson Drawing Room, which boasts its own grand Christmas tree.

Other highlights of the holiday season at Windsor Castle include storytelling sessions on December 4th, 11th, 18th, 20th, and 23rd, as well as arts-and-crafts activities on the weekends, which invite children to create their very own costumes and pantomime-themed Christmas decor and perform for their families and friends.

The castle also offers exclusive evening tours that allow visitors to get a more up-close look at the State Apartments—as well as a tour of the Great Kitchen, the oldest working kitchen in all of England (it's been in use for more than 750 years!), which is typically closed to the public.

And if you're looking for a spot to grab a quick bite to eat, might we suggest the Undercroft Café, which is the oldest still-in-existence space in Windsor Castle? Best of all, they have a festive-themed menu throughout December.
