How to workout before work (without waking up crazy early)

Getting in a workout before arriving at the office can be tricky, but there’s a simple way to save yourself some time.

It’s easy. You don’t shower.

Before you turn your nose up in disgust, hear me out.

When you’re on the nine-to-five grind it can be difficult to get your workouts in. Personally, I’m not a morning person, so the idea of waking up before the sun rises to hit the gym, shower and then head off to work is just not going to happen. I also prefer group workouts but really early morning and post-work classes are a total nightmare – packed to the rafters with other nine-to-fivers trying to squeeze in some cardio. It’s the worst.

But it doesn’t have to be.

This morning I attended a 45-minute high-intensity workout put on by Nike. It started at eight – a little late for most pre-work exercisers – and by the end of it I was literally dripping. Because of the timing, I didn’t have time to go home to sneak in a quick shower before heading to the Yahoo Canada office so instead, I hopped on my bike (still decked in my sweaty gymwear) and went directly to work.

Okay, before you start judging, know that I surveyed my co-workers before writing this and many of them were totally unaware that I had even worked out this morning. Sure, I came in with some extra baggage and my hair had more of a wave to it than normal, but otherwise, it was just another day at the office.
