Massive points for the name: versatile + tiles = VersaTiles. But why isn't a single VersaTiles a VersaTile?I'm subtracting points for that. (Photo: Boogie Board)

Whiteboards are so analog. Handy, sure, but when you want a clean slate, you have to wipe it off with an eraser. This is the 21st century! We don't have time for that kind of thing.

Tech to the rescue: Boogie Board VersaTiles are electronic memo boards that can be erased with the push of a button. They're designed to hang in homes or offices, anywhere you'd normally want to display notes or messages. And I have to say, they're pretty ingenious.

But maybe a little pricey at $30 each? Good news: For a limited time, Yahoo Life readers can get Boogie Board VersaTiles at Amazon for $23. That link should automatically apply a promo code once you get to checkout. (If not, the code is 23OFFVERSA.)

This is really just a tweaked version of the popular Boogie Board writing tablets, which let you scribble to your heart's content in digital ink. Same deal there: press a button and presto, clean slate.

The VersaTiles measure 8.25 x 8.25 inches and sport a peel-and-stick strip that lets you mount it just about anywhere. (You can also use a couple of nails if you're working with a stick-unfriendly surface.)

You do have to use the included plastic stylus to write on the board and to erase it. Fortunately, it magnetically clips to the side or top to help prevent it getting misplaced.

The digital ink isn't super-bright, and there's no backlighting or anything to let you read notes in the dark. Again, think "whiteboard." But it's bright enough for its intended purpose. And you don't have to mess around with charging or anything like that: The VersaTiles' built-in battery should last for five years, according to Boogie Board, and is user-replaceable.

At a minimum I want one of these in the kitchen, one by the door and one by my desk. (Photo: Boogie Board)

True story: My college-age kid just stole my VersaTiles for his apartment, which he shares with two roommates. It's hanging in the kitchen, where they use it for messages and chore lists. His verdict: "Really great!" (And make no mistake, college kids are wired to not show enthusiasm about anything.)

By the way, if you happen to have a Sam's Club membership, you can get VersaTiles for just $17, the lowest price I've seen anywhere.
