Yankees prospect Miguel Andujar gets the call

New York Yankees prospect Miguel Andujar wasn’t expected to get the call quite this early in the season, but injuries have cleared a path. Andujar is on his way, and it sounds like he won’t simply sit and watch…

The Yankees somehow have a zillion guys on the DL already — Ellsbury, Hicks, Bird, Frazier, McKinney, et al. It’s entirely possible that Andujar will be returned to Triple-A whenever someone gets healthy. But for now, one of the game’s more interesting hitting prospects is in the big leagues.

Andujar raked in the high minors last season, slashing .315/.352/.498 with 54 extra-base hits, 82 RBIs and only 71 Ks. He also went 4-for-7 in limited time in the majors. Andujar hit four homers this spring, drove in 10 runs and generally looked MLB-ready. Enjoy a highlight. His promotion is a nice treat for Yankees fans, who really didn’t need any additional treats.

Again, we should note that Andujar isn’t an absolute lock to stick in the Bronx, so this is not an empty-the-FAAB-vault situation. He’s also not a five-category, Acuna-level prospect. But he’s up, and the kid can hit. He’s long gone in dynasty leagues, but he’s a reasonable redraft mixed league flier.
