‘Yellowstone’ spinoff show mostly filmed in North Texas premieres this fall on Paramount+
The “Yellowstone” spinoff series that filmed in and around North Texas will premiere on Paramount+ this fall.
“Lawmen: Bass Reeves” tells the story of the first black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi River. The anthology series, created by “Yellowstone” boss Taylor Sheridan, stars David Oyelowo as the titular real-life lawman.
After a short teaser released in early August, Paramount+ dropped a full trailer for the show that will premiere on the streaming service on Nov. 5.
“Reeves (Oyelowo), known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded. ‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves’ is an anthology series with future iterations that will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history,” according to Paramount+.
Starring alongside Oyelowo is Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland and Dennis Quaid. Additional guest stars include Shea Whigham, Garrett Hedlund and Mo Brings Plenty.
“Bass Reeves” spent most of its time filming in North Texas, from Weatherford and Glen Rose, to Stephenville and Strawn. Production began in January and wrapped in early June.
The series is the latest show to hit the small screen from Sheridan for Paramount+, joining the two “Yellowstone” spinoff shows “1883” and “1923,” along with “Tulsa King,” “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Special Ops: Lioness.”
