As the weather continues to heat up, we can think of one sweet way to cool down—with a Blizzard. The sweet treat from Dairy Queen combines thick, soft-serve and a variety of tasty mix-ins.
And while we can all agree that a Blizzard is a delicious way to battle rising temps, the country does seem pretty divided on which Blizzard flavor is their favorite. To demonstrate, Grand Canyon University created a map using Google Trends that shows the most popular Blizzard in every state. And we have to admit that we're pretty shocked by the results.
Although there is division throughout the map, certain regions of the country tend to agree on favorite flavors. The Northwest (Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada) loves Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzards, while the Southeast (Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi) can't resist a Turtle Pecan Cluster Blizzard. The Turtle Pecan Cluster Blizzard is a favorite in nine other states, making it the most popular flavor in the United States.
Unsurprisingly, Florida is by itself compared to the rest of the Southeast. You're most likely to catch residents of the Sunshine State digging into a Royal New York Cheesecake Blizzard. And no, the Royal New York Cheesecake isn't the most popular Blizzard flavor in New York. That honor goes to Oreo Cookie. The Oreo flavor is also a favorite in California, Alaska, North Dakota, Louisiana, and a handful of other states.
Shockingly, the Brownie Batter Blizzard is a fave in just two states: Missouri and Illinois. And for those wondering about one of the most unique Blizzard flavors, Cotton Candy, the carnival-inspired treat is the most popular pick in seven states.
