Zendaya’s Vintage Versace Dress Is as Old as She Is
The stunning gown made its runway debut the same year the actress was born.
Last night, Zendaya was the clear winner of the 2020 Green Carpet Fashion Awards. Not only did she take home the Visionary Award for her promotion of diversity in fashion and film, but she also was one of the best-dressed attendees to walk the "digital green carpet," wearing a vintage Versace dress from the same year she was born.
The slinky chocolate brown gown with a mesh embellished bodice from Gianni Versace's 1996 collection is the same age as the Euphoria star, who just turned 24 years old.

The archived number was originally worn on the runway by supermodel Anna Klevhag, and later by Kate Moss in purple for the fashion house's ad campaign that year.
In an interview with British Vogue, Zendaya's stylist, Law Roach, explained that her entire look (not just the gown) was inspired by the '90s. "She was actually born in 1996, so I thought that it’d be fun [for her] to wear something from that year. It’s taking her back — if Zendaya had been of age then, maybe she would have been a Versace model," Roach explained of his selection, adding that the actress's hairstyle for the event — voluminous curls pulled back in a headband — was also "very reminiscent" of the decade.

Zendaya took the award show's sustainability theme a step further, and recycled a pair of Christian Louboutin heels in a matching shade from her own closet. She accessorized with a pair of diamond drop earrings and a stack of gold bracelets.
Overall, the look was a victory for fashion and the environment.
