Zooey Deschanel gushes over 'Property Brothers' star Jonathan Scott: 'I have the best boyfriend'

Zooey Deschanel is co-host of ABC's "The Celebrity Dating Game" (premiering Monday, 10 EDT/PDT), but says looking for love on the game show wouldn't be her cup of tea.

"I’m just very private and, of course, I’m taken," the "New Girl" alum says, alluding to boyfriend Jonathan Scott. "I have the best boyfriend in the world. No, that wouldn't be me."

The HGTV personality says he suffered a little bit of a scare when Deschanel shared news of her new gig.

"When Zooey first told me she was doing the show, she was really excited," Scott says while promoting the return of his series "Celebrity IOU" (June 21, 9 EDT/PDT). "I saw the sets, and the sets looked amazing. I love the set design. But it was so funny ‘cause when she first said she was doing ‘The (Celebrity) Dating Game,’ there was an awkward pause, and I like ‘Wait, but as a host, right? Not as a contestant?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah, as a host.’”

In January, the couple happily rang in the new year together and marked the occasion with a series of photos taken by Deschanel's father, Caleb.

"My 2020 MVP was this guy, who always made me feel happy in spite of a weird and uncertain year," Deschanel, 41, wrote on Instagram. "Hoping 2021 is full of silver linings for everyone."

Scott, 43, returned her sentiments in the comments section: "You make me the happiest, best version of me."

In his own post, the "Property Brothers" star wrote that 2021 would be dedicated to "love, happiness and the pursuit of helping others" but noted he has a "good jumpstart on the love part."

Deschanel and Scott met in October 2019 while filming a "Carpool Karaoke" segment for "The Late Show with James Corden."

In September 2019, Deschanel and her estranged husband, film producer Jacob Pechenik, confirmed to USA TODAY they were splitting, days before she and Scott went public with their relationship. The two tied the knot in June 2015 and share son, Charlie, 3, and daughter, Elsie, 5.

Scott was previously married to Kelsy Ully.
