While lockdown continues across much of the country, many people have turned to a steady stream of movies and shows to take their mind off things. Streaming services have been pushing out more content than ever, and this month we have many more entertainment options to keep us busy.

Highly anticipated blockbuster films like Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" and "Wonder Woman 1984" finally hit streaming services this month, as well as Oscar nominated picks like "Sound of Metal," starring Riz Ahmed.

The highly anticipated film "The Woman in the Window," based on the novel of the same name, will stream on Netflix this month starring Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore and Anthony Mackie. Also hitting Netflix in May is the timely and extremely relevant film "Monster," which follows an innocent Black teen in his fight against a criminal justice system that has already wronged him.

Amazon Prime Video also has a selection of exciting titles, including the star-studded series "Solos" and "Panic," based on the young adult novel by Lauren Oliver.

Woman in the Window

This psychological thriller, based on the 2018 novel of the same name, follows agoraphobic Dr. Anna Fox (Amy Adams), who doesn't leave her house. She watches old movies and spies on her neighbours, until one day she witnesses a brutal crime from her window and tries to solve it. Starring Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore and Anthony Mackie. Streams May 14.

Army of the Dead

"Army of the Dead" is an undead action film directed and co-written by Zack Snyder. After a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries takes the ultimate gamble by venturing into the quarantine zone for the greatest heist ever. Streams May 21.

A Black teen (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) is implicated in a robbery-turned-murder and has to fight for his innocence against a criminal justice system that's already judged him. The film, which also stars Jennifer Hudson and Jeffrey Wright, is based on the 1999 young adult novel of the same name. Streams May 7.

This live-action movie is a prequel that explores the backstory of the iconic Disney villain Cruella de Vil (Emma Stone). "Cruella" takes place in the punk-rock era of 1970s in London as she works her way up the haute-couture ladder. "Cruella" will be available to stream through on Disney+ through Premier Access on May 28.

"Solos" is a seven-part anthology series that explores the strange, beautiful, heart-breaking, hilarious, wondrous truths of what it means to be human. The anthology series spans our present and future and grapples with time travel, A.I. bots, scheming smart homes, and illegal memory transplants, all to illuminate the deeper meaning of human connection. The series stars Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Anthony Mackie, Helen Mirren, Constance Wu, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie and Dan Stevens. Streams May 21.

The Underground Railroad

From Oscar winner Barry Jenkins and based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Colson Whitehead, "The Underground Railroad" follows Cora Randall’s (Thuso Mbedu) journey as she makes a desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South. After escaping her Georgia plantation for the rumoured Underground Railroad, Cora discovers that it's an actual railroad full of engineers and conductors, and a secret network of tracks and tunnels beneath the Southern soil. The limited series streams May 14.
