This $13.1 Million Mansion Is One of the Most Expensive Homes on the Market in Whistler.

David Beckham and Justin Bieber are known to hit the slopes at Whistler Blackcomb, North America’s largest ski resort, but the area’s classic chalet-style housing also makes the Canadian mountain town a skier’s paradise. Last year, a striking mountaintop home by Patkau Architects landed on the market for $12 million in the area, and now, a nearby residence that’s part of the ski-in/ski-out Sunridge Plateau neighborhood has come up for grabs as one of Whistler’s most expensive homes on the market.

The three-story mansion at 3824 Sunridge Drive is currently the third-highest-priced home in the resort municipality, according to the real estate search engine REW. Completed two years ago, the 7,492-square-foot abode has never been lived in, CTV News Vancouver reports. And while its six-bedroom, plus a den, and seven-bathroom layout is priced at $17.9 million Canadian dollars, the current exchange rate makes it $13.1 million in U.S. dollars—aka a steal for international buyers. John Ryan of Whistler Real Estate Company holds the listing, as well as the town’s most expensive offering.

Architect Sean Anderson, a former associate curator at The Museum of Modern Art, is behind the abode’s contemporary design, which was built by Gavan Construction. A mix of natural and man-made materials like standing seam metal, tongue and groove cedar, and cement paneling stand out on the facade next to triple-glazed windows that ensure the cold stays outside. White oak floors, wool barber carpet, and custom millwork by Minglewood/Black Point are additional choices in the design.

Beyond the entry foyer, soaring ceilings provide a sense of airiness, and walls of glass highlight the seamless indoor-outdoor design. The living room’s wood-burning Stuv fireplace continues to provide both light and warmth when the sun goes down and temperatures drop. Nearby stands the gourmet kitchen with modern stainless-steel appliances and bold black and white marble counters and backsplashes. A dining area sits to the right of the space, with room for at least eight guests.

A massive fireplace anchors the upstairs primary suite, which includes a walk-in closet and a lavish en-suite bath accented by dark and light marbles. The suite’s best feature is arguably its private patio with its head-on view of Whistler Mountain. The wellness center on the home’s lower level, meanwhile, is poised to be a hotspot for keeping entertained with a gym, treatment room, and game room. A 45-foot heated indoor pool is also found there, extending to a covered deck with a hot tub.

Last year, the sale of a $40 million home set a new record as the highest-priced real estate deal in Whistler’s history. Its most expensive condo also sold back in March, for $9.3 million.
