This $13.4 Million Penthouse in Puerto Rico Is the Most Expensive Condo Ever Sold in San Juan
A record penthouse sale has been achieved in Puerto Rico. The crown jewel of San Juan’s Peninsula Condado condominium, with Condado Beach and city skyline views recently sold for $13.4 million. Spanning three floors, the 9,421-square-foot aerie includes three bedrooms and seven baths with over 3,000 square feet of private outdoor space. The sprawling unit last changed hands in 2020, when it was acquired for $7.2 million by mortgage executive Rob Hirt; the latest sale price, therefore, represents a stunning 86 percent increase over just four years and marks the most expensive condo sale in the capital to boot.
Hirt bought the residence from the developer as little more than a concrete shell and “created everything from scratch,” listing agent Oriana Juvelier of Puerto Rico Sotheby’s International Realty told Mansion Global. He tapped interior designer Fernando Rodriguez and several other Miami-based firms to bring the high-floor quarters to life, and the herringbone wood floors and stone countertops seen throughout the breezy, open-plan layout speak to an interest in working with natural materials.

Ahead of the private elevator landing, with its eye-catching geometric tile floor, sits the entrance gallery, where the panoramic vistas unfold as you navigate into the great room, which comprises a sitting area and a dining space alongside a minimalist kitchen imported from Italy with integrated appliances and a mirrored backsplash. The first offers south-facing San Juan views and western glances of the Old City, while the second offers a covered area with a full bar and an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, not to mention a plunge pool with views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Five garage parking spaces come with the triple-mint condition Peninsula Condado digs, while the 18-story full-service condominium, built on the site of a former Chili’s restaurant, provides residents with access to a fitness center, a lagoon-facing pool, and private storage space.
Property records indicate Rob and his wife Tracey Hirt maintain a $6.7 million home in Palm Beach that they acquired in 2021, about a year before they sold an almost 12,000 square foot home on 10 acres in Northern California’s Bay Area in a no reserve auction for $9 million.
