16 Crease-Proof Concealers to Withstand Summer's Sweatiest Months
Concealer creasing plagues even the most experienced makeup artists. Add on summer's sweat-ridden brows, and keeping concealer intact becomes its own sort of sport. But with the help of the right long-lasting formulas, strategic layering and expert-approved application techniques, securing sweat-proof coverage is totally doable.
One mistake most people make is using too much product. "The key is to use a less-is-more approach when it comes to application," says makeup artist Jessica Thomas, who is based out of Cleveland and New York City. "Using a fluffy brush helps control the product dispersion so that I don't overload the under-eye area with product to make it look and feel heavy, crease or look cake-y."
Whether you're blending with a makeup sponge, a brush or your fingers, the actual concealer is just as important as a skillful application. With her signature "Camera Ready Skin Application" technique, Thomas pays particular attention to how a concealer dries down on skin. Before going in with her blending brush (her favorite is the Large Detail Blending Brush from her own beauty tool brand Bombshell Beauty), she lets her concealer rest for a few minutes to achieve a tacky texture.
"I have found that concealers that are able to dry down this way give more coverage and also help me save on product from my makeup kit," notes Thomas. "Once it's tacky, I like to blend it out starting at the edges to ensure a seamless blend into the rest of the skin."
With all the concealer options on the market, finding one that actually holds up against sweat-induced slippage and resists settling into creases can be challenging.
