16 Handles Apologizes for Trump Joke

From Cosmopolitan

Frozen yogurt company 16 Handles sent an email blast the night of the third and final presidential debate with the subject line “We’re Making Fro-Yo Great Again,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The body of the email encouraged customers to get some 16 Handles during the debate - more specifically, to “Grab ‘em by the fro-yo,” referring to the 2005 hot mic leaked tape of Donald Trump discussing sexual assault and touching women without their consent. People were not pleased and the chain soon after apologized.

Mic reports the original email continued: "Tonight’s debate will be pretty heated. Cool off with some fro-yo from 16 Handles! Be sure to order in time for the presidential debate at 9 p.m. Find 16 Handles on Postmates, Seamless, GrubHub, UberEats, Eat24, andDelivery.com.” Almost immediately, people began dragging the brand on Twitter:

After the follow-up apology email, 16 Handles also tweeted they were "deeply apologetic" and clarified the reference (a "[facetious]" one to "pop culture") was not meant to endorse any presidential candidate or condone sexual assault:
