20 Super Bowl Recipes Only Eagles Fans—All Of America This Week—Will Appreciate
For the Super Bowl this year, go beyond your usual "grabbin' a coupla hoagies at the Wawa" routine and really go all out while you cheer on the Eagles. After all, we're playing the Kansas City Chiefs this year. The Chiefs! And like it or not, it's Philly's year to beat them. As someone who grew up half the time in Philly, I personally think the food reigns supreme over the midwest as well – Philly cheesesteaks, fresh-baked soft pretzels, and so many Italian American classics (like stromboli and zeppole) are well worth crossing the Schuylkill for.
Look, I'm not one to say Philadelphia Eagles fans are subtle. Far from it. And their food is no different. So if you find yourself merely just cheering against the Chiefs this year, us Eagles fans welcome you with open arms (wings?) and with plenty of all the best and boldest Philadelphia favorites, like granita (AKA water ice, which is pronounced "wooder ice"), our apple hand pies (in case you can't track down some Tastykakes), the requisite hoagie dip, and Old Bay-seasoned French fries (aka "crab fries." Let's go birds!
Philly Cheesesteaks
Philly cheesesteaks are one of the most iconic sandwiches, and for very good reason. The combination of thinly sliced ribeye, jammy caramelized onions, and ooey-gooey melted cheese makes for a truly unforgettable lunch sandwich creation. This is our favorite version of the iconic sandwich, but that being said, feel free to adjust the recipe to your personal preference—we promise we'll understand.

Irish Potato Candy
If you’re not from the Philadelphia area, you might be thinking, I don’t want potato in my candy! Don’t worry, this confection only looks like cute little potatoes, and actually contains no spuds at all.

Italian Sub Squares
Like our sheet-pan Italian subs, these are full of your favorite sandwich fillings, this time layered between sweet, golden sheets of crescent roll dough. These savory squares are the perfect app to feed a hungry crowd, to serve for an on-the-go dinner, or eat as a midday snack.

Homemade Soft Pretzels
Skip the trip to the mall—homemade soft pretzels are simple enough to make at home, and their chewy middle and crisp crust makes all the effort completely worth it. Plus, when you make them at home, you can get the best of both words—sweet AND savory. An ideal Super Bowl snack or easy appetizer, these pretzels will keep your crew full, satisfied and totally impressed with your shaping skills.

Stromboli
Move over calzones—homemade strombolis are our new dream handheld weeknight dinner. We packed ours full of pepperoni, salami, and two types of cheese, but the options are truly endless when it comes to customizing this Italian-American dish. If you're looking to serve up some satisfying party food, need a Super Bowl appetizer your guests won't be able to get enough, of or simply want this cheesy creation all to yourself — this quick and easy stromboli is the way to go.

Philly Cheesesteak Sliders
These sliders are like your favorite iconic Philly cheesesteak, made miniature so you can share (or eat more than one!). They’re the perfect appetizer or main for game day, birthday parties, BBQs, and more. While “traditional” cheesesteaks from Philadelphia contain just 3 ingredients (steak, onions, and cheese), you’ll often see it served with sautéed bell peppers and mushrooms on the West Coast. Here, we split the difference with the addition of green peppers, but feel free to add or subtract ingredients to make these your own.

Water Ice (Granita)
Okay, okay, this is decidedly not a traditional Philadelphia water ice (aka "wooder ice"), but the granita is the OG water ice and was created by Philadelphia's thriving Italian-Americans community. Simple to make and easily modified, it’s perfect on its own as a light palate cleanser or dressed up with whipped cream and toppings. This pineapple version is big on tropical flavors, with heavy notes of vanilla and toffee thanks to a splash of rum and a scoop of dark brown sugar.

Green Beer
You can't celebrate an Eagles touchdown without a pint of green beer. All it takes is a little green food coloring and your favorite beer!

Hoagie Dip
Here’s our favorite deli sandwich, dip-ified! This chunky, fully loaded appetizer has all the savory, crunchy, and creamy elements and meatiness you love in a traditional hoagie, but it’s spoonable, and totally shareable. You’ll want to serve this 10-minute one-bowl appetizer for every game day gathering.

Beer Cheese
Creamy and warm dips are required on any game day, but if you really want to start the party, put out a pot of beer cheese. Spiked with lager and Dijon mustard, this smooth and glossy cheese dip will be devoured by tailgaters everywhere.

(Crab) Fries
Deep-frying anything is always messy, annoying, and time-consuming, but these easy fries are anything but fussy. But we recently discovered a genius hack that changes EVERYTHING. It yields astonishingly crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside frites. To add a Philly flair, just add plenty of Old Bay seasoning to turn these into Chickie & Pete's iconic "crab" fries.

Apple Hand Pies
Consider these Delish's take on a Philadelphia staple: Tastykakes' apple pies. If you're new to hand pies, they've actually got the perfect crust-to-filling ratio of all the pies out there, and less fussy to boot. But perhaps the best part? No soggy bottoms. These apple hand pies are packed with a saucy apple filling that's amped up with apple butter for a lovely concentrated apple flavor. And a dash of lemon juice brings brightness to every bite.

Vegetarian Italian Sub
The king of all the sandwiches, the Italian Hero, is a sandwich filled to the brim with all manner of cured meat, cheese, and refreshingly crisp vegetables. Sure, the meats are a huge part of the draw, but we've always been fixated on the veggies: the olives, peppers, ice cold shredded lettuce and paper thin onions. With this in mind we set out to make a veggie version of this classic sandwich. We sub the meat for planks of zucchini and eggplant to offer some heartiness and is just as good as the meat-centric versions.

Slow-Roasted Pork And Peppers
This slow-roasted pork is a mostly hands-off meal that's both perfect for busy weeknights and pretty enough to serve at a dinner party. To make it truly Philly style, load a hoagie roll with pork, sharp provolone, and some broccoli rabe for a killer Super Bowl main.

Zeppole
Zeppole are the perfect snack for serving with coffee for a midmorning pastry break, or serve with chocolate sauce for a more decadent dessert. In Italy and Philly, larger zeppole are often filled with pastry cream. For a take on that version, use a paring knife to poke a small hole in the side of the donut, then fill with pastry cream using a piping bag. (Use the filling recipe from these eclairs.)

Brat Summer Pasta
You know what's truly brat? Being an Eagles fan. So be sure to get super festive by making our Brat Summer-inspired pasta that's nearly as green as your jersey. Plus, this bright green pasta sauce couldn’t be simpler: Blanched spinach is whizzed up in a blender with basil, cream cheese, and Parmesan for a creamy, herbaceous sauce that coats the pasta perfectly.

Philly Cheesesteak Nachos
These Philly cheesesteak-inspired nachos are incredible whether you share them with friends at a tailgate or just enjoy them for a casual weeknight dinner in front of the TV. Best part? There isn't a more perfect party appetizer than potato skins and ones stuffed with Philly cheesesteak ingredients are even better. Watch out, your Super Bowl guests might fight over these more than the game!

Checkerboard Cookies
These checkerboard cookies look far more complicated to make than they actually are. Really, they're just a classic vanilla and chocolate sugar cookie, with the two colors being made from the same dough. Here, one gets a little cocoa powder added, the other half some green food coloring to mimic the Eagles' iconic green colors.

Philadelphia Roll
Sometimes it feels like you can turn just about anything into "sushi": BLT sandwich to Greek salad to crab-stuffed zucchini. Even the Philadelphia roll is essentially a bagel and lox turned into epically delicious sushi, and we're all about it.
