This 21-Year-Old Kate Middleton Look-alike Has Spent $3,000 to Copy Kate's Clothes

From Cosmopolitan

Critics accuse Kate Middleton of having the world's most boring style, but the Duchess of Cambridge still has an army of fans who follow her every outfit rewear religiously and immediately scoop up any off-the-rack look that's available to buy.

Count 21-year-old Amanda Bell among those devotees. The Los Angeles resident, who works in customer service, has spent the past four years copying Kate's wardrobe, and has spent over $3,000 dressing like Kate.

"I love recreating Kate's look," Bell said. "My style has always been very similar to hers so it just seemed natural to me." Bell's physical resemblance to Kate helps too, and she blows out her long brown hair in a similar way.

Bell stays on top of wait lists so that she can snap up popular items that sell out quickly (though she's not always successful), or buys cheaper copy-Kate versions of custom, pricier pieces. Here's a look at some of the outfits Bell has in her closet:

Issa Phylis Royal Blue Wrap Dress

The dress that started it all! Kate wore a blue wrap dress by Issa London (currently available online for $818) when she and Prince William formally announced their engagement on Nov. 16, 2010. It was the first time Kate showed off her sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.

Zara Blue Pleated Dress

On May 1, 2011, the day after her wedding, Kate left Buckingham Palace wearing a polyester Zara dress that cost $90. She wore it with black espadrilles from L.K. Bennett and a black jacket.

Orla Kiely Gray Pleated Dress

Bell's look here is a copy of a gray pleated dress from Orla Kiely's fall/winter 2011 collection. Kate was first spotted wearing the dress, which has black floral appliqués along the neckline on March 15, 2012, and she wore the dress again in October 2015.

Hobbs Wessex Gray and White Dress

Kate first wore this linen check-print dress by Hobbs on July 26, 2012, and wore it again while touring Australia with Will in 2014. The brand periodically releases the design in different colors, but it looks like Bell got the original.

Jenny Packham Yellow Floral Dress

Kate wore a custom dress by Jenny Packham when she left the hospital after giving birth to Princess Charlotte, but Bell looks to have found a pretty convincing copy of the pretty floral sheath.

Anita Dongre Patterned Dress

This flowing patterned dress by Anita Dongre was longer when it was shown originally on the runway, but Kate's stylist had the dress shortened and belted at the waist, which is how the designer is now selling the $236 dress.
