1) The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)

One of the most famous movies to come out of German Expressionism, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari follows a Dr. Caligari, who uses hypnosis to manipulate a sleep-walking man to commit murders. Roger Ebert considered it to be "the first true horror film."

2) The Fly (1958)

While attempting to build a teleportation device, a scientist accidentally transforms himself into a monster with fly-like characteristics. Entomophobes, beware.

3) Jaws (1975)

In this Spielberg classic, a shark hunter (Robert Shaw), an oceanographer (Richard Dreyfuss) and the local police chief (Roy Scheider) hunt a man-eating shark off the coast of a New England beach town.

4) Children of the Corn (1984)
