25 Unconventional Baby Names So Good Every Parent Will Wish They Thought Of Them First
Choosing the *perfect* baby name can be challenging if you ask any parent. You could pick one that's timeless, has an unconventional spelling, or feels totally unexpected. I recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to share unique baby names they love, and here are the ones expecting parents might be inspired by:
1."I named my son Cullen. It's Scotch-Gaelic and is more commonly a surname, but I'm yet to meet another one!"
2."My youngest daughter is named Journey, and I love it. It's pretty but also unique, and it fits her. Plus, when the band comes on the car radio I can tease her with, "A little Journey for my journey with my Journey!'"
3."Neytiri and Neteyam! These names have a nautical panache and a divine, wavy ring given they're from the movie Avatar: The Way of Water."
4."We named our daughter Phoenix and I love it more every day. Feeny (like the Feeny from Boy Meets World) for short."
5."Chevelle — French for bold and beautiful."
6."I think Bentley and Lane are great names that I don't hear very often."
7."My oldest grand daughter is Moxie!"
8."My daughter's name is Marlowe and I still think it's the most beautiful name. Every time I say it, I'm glad we gave it to her. If we had a boy, his name was going to be Atticus."
9."My eldest son is Lucian which means 'light.' My youngest is Logan."
10."We thought we were so unique 16 years ago picking Payton for our daughter. There are SO many Paytons that it's ridiculous. Our 9-year-old daughter is named Clarke, and I have yet to meet another one."
11."My granddaughter's name is Sage Jayce. The middle name is a combination of all our first initials."
12."I've always loved Genevieve. My new favorite is Shenandoah."
13."Majessa is a pretty girl's name."
14."Ansel. Very rarely used but famous."
15."My son's name is Linus. For a girl, Lavender."
16."My daughter's name is Bradley and I love it!"
17."I love the names Ada and Juniper for girls."
18."We named my oldest daughter Taelyn. It means talon or claw. It's a perfect fit too, as she works in veterinary medicine."
19."My friend's brother just named his daughter Amara. I like it!"
20."Noa for girls!"
21."I know a baby named Florence. We usually call her Flo."
22."Lyric is on my list."
23."I met a Joplin in my class and loved her instantly."
24."Silvana. It's of Italian heritage, originally from ancient Latin, and translates to 'goddess of the forest,' 'close to the forest,' or 'friend of the forest.'"
25.And finally, "We named our son Steeler. He was born nine months after the Steelers won the 2006 Super Bowl. My husband is from Pennsylvania but we live in Florida, so he isn't teased or anything and loves that his name is unique. We mostly call him Steele, and so do most of his friends."
