It's happening, ppl: Five years after discontinuing the @sussexroyal Instagram account (and seven years after deactivating her personal IG), Meghan Markle is back on Instagram. On January 1, the Duchess of Sussex uploaded a video to her new handle, @meghan, marking her official return to social media.

The black-and-white vid (apparently shot by Prince Harry) shows Meghan running on a beach near their home in Montecito before writing "2025" in the sand. Here for the 2012 Pinterest vibes! And as you'd probs expect, Meghan opted to disable comments on the post.

You might recall that Meghan first hinted at a possible return to social media back in 2022 during an interview with The Cut, saying, "Do you want to know a secret? I'm getting back...on Instagram."

A source later told Page Six that the Duchess had secured the handle @meghan right before launching her Spotify podcast, Archetypes, back in August 2022—but she'd ultimately decided not to post anything. "Meghan was set to go live on Insta, but changed her mind shortly before she launched her Archetypes podcast, so it’s just sitting there now," the insider claimed.

But after a seven-year hiatus (she ditched her personal social media accounts in early 2018 after her engagement to Harry), it seems like Meghan could be making a return to her lifestyle blogging roots.

Let's not forget that Meghan also launched a lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, back in March 2024. So far, the grid for the @americanrivieraorchard account only features the branding for the label, and it's still unclear when the brand will make its official launch.

Page Six previously reported that ARO will have a focus on home, garden, food, and general lifestyle content, similar to her previous lifestyle blog, The Tig (RIP).

And according to the trademark application, ARO also intends to sell a wide range of home goods, including small-batch jellies, jams, and spreads, as well as tableware staples, such as cutlery, table linens, and drinkware. (For the record: As of November 2024, Meghan still hadn't been able to secure a trademark for her brand due to a whole bunch of issues.)

Could the launch of Meghan's new personal IG mean new things for ARO? Your guess is as good as mine!!
