5 Items You Won’t Regret Purchasing in Retirement During the Winter Months
Retirement can mean more time for fun in the sun, but as the seasons change, the winter dictates that seniors make some purchases to fight the chilly months.
If you are in retirement, consider adding these to your shopping list sooner rather than later as winter is just about upon us.

Here are five items you won’t regret purchasing in retirement during the winter months:
Earning passive income doesn't need to be difficult. You can start this week.
5. Thermal Underwear
As a retiree, you’ll need some extra layers to help keep you warm — not just when you are in bed or lounging in your favorite chair, but on your body, as well.
That’s where thermal underwear can truly save the day, providing more heat against your body without adding extra bulky weight. If you are someone who feels the cold more intensely than others, having an extra layer of insulation can help.
You can find thermal underwear at online retailers such as Amazon, starting around $30 a pair, making them well worth the money spent.

4. Electric Blanket
“Even if you keep your home warm, it’s still easy to get chilly if there’s a draft or if you’ve spent part of your day outside,” said Melanie Musson, a retail finance expert with InsuranceProviders.com.
In fact, many of your favorite retailers, such as Walmart, offer electric blankets for as low as $12. Musson went on to say that “[a]n electric blanket can keep you toasty warm while watching TV or reading a book in the evening.”
3. Winter Shoes
Good footwear is critical for all seasons, but especially winters. Getting a pair of insulated boots can offer more traction on ice surfaces, which can be more and more hazardous to retirees over the years.
Finding the right pair of winter boots or shoes can be as affordable as spending between $100 to $200, depending on the retailer. Not only will they keep your feet protected, but add an extra dose of confidence for moving through the slippery and sometimes treacherous wintry conditions you might face.
2. Remote Car Starter
“If you haven’t had a car with a remote start, having one installed will be revolutionary,” Musson explained. “Instead of having to go outside in the cold to get your car started, you can press a button and go to your warm car after a few minutes when you’re ready to go.”
For seniors and retirees, this means that you can spend less time in your car waiting for it to warm up, and more time inside your home where it is already cozy. Walmart sells these devices for about $50 and up.
1. Heated Gloves
Warming your fingers during retirement can start to feel like a chore. However, as the cold sets in, the time to get your extremities up in temperature can take longer, which is why a pair of heated gloves are your best friend during the winter.
“If you go outside or drive your car in the winter, heated gloves can keep your fingers warm and keep you comfortable,” shared Musson.
Right now, Amazon has a range of heat gloves you can purchase, starting around $80 or so.
