This fun new restaurant for wine lovers opened in downtown Miami’s Worldcenter

If you have ever stared down a wine list in a restaurant and wondered “Why can’t this be easy?”, Sixty Vines has some good news for you: It can be.

And now it can be right in downtown Miami.

The restaurant and wine bar, which is based in Texas, is opening its first Miami location at the Miami Worldcenter, the 27-acre, $6 billion retail, hotel and residential development across the street from the Kaseya Center.

Sixty Vines has 9,500 square feet with more than 300 seats, including a counter in the back.

Even if you don’t find wine confusing, Sixty Vines will exert a certain allure, especially if you’re looking for a spot within walking distance of a Miami Heat game or a concert. With more than 60 wines on tap — you heard that right, 60 taps pour 60 different wines — the brand aims to demystify the grape and put forward what it calls a relaxed, “pinkies down” atmosphere.

CEO Jeff Carcara said the brand, which also has locations in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and Washington, D.C., was thrilled to open in “a city that knows how to have a great time.”

“We are reimagining wine culture as fun and approachable,” he said. “We can’t wait to bring our unique energy to Miami’s restaurant scene.”

The restaurant, which serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, is 9,500 square feet with more than 300 seats, including a counter in the back that faces the wood-fire stove, where the pizzas are made. There’s also a private event space, a living room-style area to lounge if you just want drinks and appetizers and an outdoor patio.

In the back is the wood-fired oven, where the pizzas are made.

There’s also a long counter to your right as you walk in, behind which the taps live. The idea of having so many wines on offer is to make drinking wine accessible to novices and younger diners, who may have less experience with ordering bottles (though Sixty Vines sells wine by the bottle, too).

But if you’re in the mood to taste, the taps are the best way to go. You can customize your own wine tasting with 2.5 ounce pours or go big with a 5-ounce full glass, an 8-ounce “quartino” or a full carafe. Each tap is eco-friendly, holding 26 bottles of wine, and can be used 1,500 times (the website currently boasts that the brand has saved more than 230,000 bottles from the landfill this year).

In addition to pizzas, the brand is famous for its build-your-own-charcuterie boards and salads but also serves such entrees as salmon, pan-roasted chicken, burgers and steaks. And don’t hesitate to ask for help with a wine pairing if you’re curious.

Sixty Vines joins the upscale French restaurant Brasserie Laurel as one of the first restaurants to open at the Worldcenter. Also scheduled to open are Serafina Italian restaurant from New York; Maple & Ash from Chicago; and Earl’s Kitchen & Bar from Canada. Also planned are the new incarnation of Juvia, the rooftop bar that originally opened on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, and rooftop Mexican bar and restaurant Villa One Tequila Gardens co-owned by Nick Jonas and John Varvatos.
