We’ve rounded up some of our favourite sites that will help make planning your last-minute March Break getaway a breeze!
TripAdvisor
Explore endless vacation packages and vacation rentals in cities all over the world, complete with real reviews and photos from TripAdvisor users.
CheapoAir
Score last minute deals on flights, car rentals, cruises and vacations around the world with CheapoAir. Not only does the site scan airlines to find you the lowest price, CheapoAir will also price match against major competitors if you find a more affordable flight within 24 hours of booking.
Kayak
Kayak is helpful for helping you filter through flights, and vacations based on your travel preferences and compare results to other travel websites. Kayak is a helpful planning resource for finding low airfare and bundling them together to create what they call “Hacker Fare.” This means the site found low prices on two one-way from different airlines to help you save. The only caveat is you have to be diligent about confirming your flights during each leg of your trip, since the flights belong to different airlines.
Hotels.com
Like the name suggests, Hotels.com began as a resource for finding last-minute, affordable hotels and lodgings around the world. Now the site offers travel recommendations and city guides, vacation packages and daily deals offering hundreds of dollars in savings.
Expedia
Expedia has become a go-to for booking vacations around the world. With no Expedia cancellation fees on hotel reservations, the site offers reward programs, daily flight deals and incentives for users, such as a 30 per cent hotel discount for app users.
Skyscanner
Like Expedia and CheapoAir, Skyscanner helps connect you to affordable airfare around the world. However, the site doesn’t offer vacation packages but will help users book car rentals and hotel rooms separately. However, the site does offer “Greener Choices” for the environmentally conscious traveller, connecting users to flights that emit the least amount of CO2 for their trip.
In 2019, Skyscanner, along with TripAdvisor, Booking.com, Trip.com and Visa joined forces with Prince Harry to form Travelyst, a travel program to encourage sustainable tourism.
Hotwire
Hotwire prides itself on being a site that will connect you with “4-star hotels at 2-star prices.” Not only does the site connect you to deals from more than 173,000 hotels around the world, when you sign up for a Hotwire account, you’ll receive emails on upcoming promotions and deals and travel tips. Hotwire negotiates special rates called Hot Rates on hotels and car rentals, so you can ensure savings. The only drawback is the site practices what’s called opaque pricing. This means Hotwire hides the names of the hotels, car rental companies that correspond to a specific Hot Rate, and only gives you the name of the hotel you booked with after you made a reservation.
