7-Up Is Finally Dropping Shirley Temple Soda & Fans Are Losing It

The holiday season is already looking sweet wit the latest news from 7-Up. According to the food news account @snackolator, 7-Up is tapping into our nostalgia with the release of a limited-edition Shirley Temple flavor. A description on the soda can, which is decked out in festive pinks and reds, describes the Shirley Temple as a "pomegranate and cherry soda."

The holiday flavor will be available in cans and 2 liters, and fans can expect a Zero Sugar option as well.

While we still have a long countdown until the holiday season begins, we could see 7-Up Shirley Temple on shelves as soon as late October.

The new flavor hasn't even hit stores yet and already some people have big (and very delicious) plans for the soda, including Shirley Temple ice cream floats and pound cake.

"If this is real then the pound cake that's gonna be made from THIS! Good God!" said one commenter.

The official Instagram account for 7-Up chimed in, writing "save us a slice."

Another person added that "this would be an amazing mixer for those holiday drinks."

A highlight of many childhoods, the Shirley Temple is typically made using lemon-lime soda, grenadine, and cherries. There are also variations on the Shirley Temple, including the Roy Rogers, which swaps out lemon-lime soda for Coke. And we can't forget about the Dirty Shirley, a boozy option that calls for a few ounces of vodka.
