9 New York Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2025 Trends: Grunge Outfits, Silver Hues, Corp Core & More

New York Fashion Week is winding down, but the fashion trends are taking off. From bold and bright colors to prim and proper suiting, this season is totally a mixed bag, making it all the more fun and versatile. While we spotted some patterns, each style was done differently as designers put their own signature twists on the looks.

And while we strapped on our winter boots to go see the runway shows this season, we found that the street style was just as enticing. Attendees brought their fashion A game too, joining the big trends and making it their own too.

Teen Vogue editors compiled some of the hottest trends they saw at New York Fashion Week both on and off the runway. Scroll on to see the styles you might want to add to your wardrobe before next season.

Grunge Outfits

A long time coming, this aesthetic has officially made its NYFW runway comeback. Bring out your slouchy sweaters and vintage tees. Collina Strada, Coach, and Simkhai gave grunge outfits their stamps of approval.

Dresses Over Pants

This look has been a mainstay in modest fashion and has slowly but surely become more popular among other aesthetic subcultures. Now, it’s made its way to the runway. Coach and Alex S. Yu sent down a few high-fashion takes on the style, going all in with accessories. While attending shows, Hari Nef and Ella Elmhoff demonstrated how to make the look casual and practical for everyday wear, so if you’re looking for inspo, they might be your muses.

Silver Maximalism

Gold isn’t out per se, but silver is definitely getting a spotlight. From totally sequined ensembles to accenting jewelry and makeup, silver got to shine one way or another this season. Carolina Herrera opted for totally sparkly numbers with sequins all over sheer neutral fabrics but also incorporated silver embellishments into tweed pieces. Tyler McGillivary similarly layered black velvet with a mix and match of silver pieces. Alex S. Yu went all in with silver metallic fabrics.

Brighter Than a Tomato Red

Tomato girl summer might be over, but the spirit is still alive. To keep things fresh, designers amped it up, opting for even more vivid hues of red. Sergio Hudson showed a classic little red dress with this spin. Lola Tung went all in on the trend for Tory Burch.

Off-the-Shoulder Tops

Many necklines graced the runways this season, but one in particular gave us the cold shoulder. Whether just one side or both, this simple styling choice adds big flair to a look. Jane Wade and Luar showed a few pieces with subtle cold shoulder necklines. Carolina Herrara went for classic off-the-shoulder looks, so it might be a good time to dig those tops out of the back of your closets.

Buttoned to the Top

On the flip side, suiting is a very big trend again, and this time, we’re buttoning our shirts and coats all the way to the top. Whether it’s inspired by the meme or the winter weather is anyone’s guess, but either way, we’re loving the cozy and practical look. It seems like Christopher John Roger and Luar are too.

Corp Core

Along with suiting, business casual in general seems to be a motif. Perhaps in response to the office siren trend, we’re seeing a shift towards more demure professional wear. They’re still a bit eclectic but not enough for a green cut-crease. We spotted the trend at Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch and Coach.

Extra Long Belts

Accessorizing has been a league of its own recently, like the bag charms trend which is pretty much accessorizing your accessory. Now, a new trick seems to be wearing an ultra long belt and letting the end hang loose. This styling hack can give an extra bring some more movement and dynamic and also draw the eyes to do a full up and down look of the outfit. Rachel Zegler gave the look a try for Michael Kors and Coach sent the style down the runway, showing its full potential of motion and playfulness.

Lace

It’s hard to choose, but if there’s one material we’re walking away with this week, it’s probably lace. Sheer has been a trend for a minute now, but we’re gravitating towards lace now. But it’s not like its popularity back in the 2010s with flower crowns and gladiator sandals. We’re seeing it in all new ways, from Collina Strada's bride-like runway looks to Alex Consani’s coquette look and Kesha’s brat ensemble.
