AJR musician Adam Met is hoping to answer a question many people might find themselves asking lately: "What can I do and how?"

On Monday, Jan. 27, Met announced the publication of his brand-new book, Amplify: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World. Set to be released this summer via Penguin Random House, the musician and activist's book takes a hard look at how everyone can take meaningful action against climate change.

Met, who is also the founder and executive director of Planet Reimagined, holds a Ph.D. in human rights and sustainable development, is a professor at Columbia University, and has worked extensively with Congress, the White House and the United Nations to promote renewable energy policies.

According to the publisher, Met uses his experience touring around the world alongside his brothers in AJR (who are known for their pop hits like "Weak" and "World's Smallest Violin") as well as his background in climate advocacy to come up with attainable ways to take action against these issues.

“Being a musician is all the more meaningful to me when I find new ways to apply what I’ve learned in this industry," Met tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. "I wrote this book to share everything I know about building a great fan base, combined with my academic and teaching experience, and advocacy work with Planet Reimagined."

"These various areas of my life all inspire different strategies that can help build movements that connect with and mobilize people in really powerful ways," he adds.

Met aims to help his readers "imagine the world you want to be living in, the role you can play in getting us there and how to build a community to achieve these goals."

Amplify also features interviews with people from a range of backgrounds who speak on their experiences with climate change and activism in general, including comedian Jim Gaffigan, fellow musician Ben Folds, U.S. presidential candidate Andrew Yang, March for Our Lives co-founder David Hogg and more.

Met previously spoke to PEOPLE in 2020 about the sustainability practices he and the other members of AJR use on a day-to-day basis, and with this new book, he hopes to reach even more fans with similar messages about the importance of climate justice, awareness and activism.

"There’s nothing like the support of a great fan base," the TIME100 Earth Award honoree tells PEOPLE. "Good causes need that kind of energy to create change, especially now, when so many people are worried we’re moving backward. We can keep moving forward."

"We just need new ways to spread momentum," Met adds. "Many books are meant to be read. This one is meant to used to meet the challenges before us.”

Amplify: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World will hit shelves on June 3, 2025 and is available for preorder now, wherever books are sold.
