Adopt a dog on National Dog Day. These 8 pups are available for adoption in the Macon area

The dog days are here. National Dog Day is Aug. 26 this year, so it’s time to paw-ty.

If you don’t currently have a pup or perhaps you want another one, today could be a lucky day for both you and a furry friend.

If you’re looking to adopt, there are plenty of snuggly, sweet companions available at local shelters across Macon and Forsyth. Here are their photos and information on how to adopt them today.

Macon-Bibb County Animal Shelter

According to the shelter’s website, there have been over 2,400 intakes this year and 394 of those intakes were saved through adoption.

Here are three dogs available for adoption at the animal shelter in Macon-Bibb:

Wynona is a female puppy available for adoption. She is a tan mixed breed and is only five months old, so she has plenty of love to give.

General

General is a male mixed breed dog. He is a little over five years old and is ready for a loving home.

Hank

Hank is a mixed breed puppy and is only three months old. He’s ready to give all the snuggles to one very lucky human.

To adopt one of more of these dogs, please visit the Macon-Bibb County Animal Shelter website. Then follow these steps:

  • Make note of the animal’s name and Pet ID.

  • Fill out the Adoption Application available on the website.

  • Pay an adoption fee of $100, which includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccination and first set of vaccinations.

Eric is a 38-pound mixed breed dog that is estimated to be around 2 to 3 years old. “Sweet Eric hasn’t had a single inquiry and he so badly wants a home of his very own,” according to the shelter’s Facebook. He has been at All About Animals Rescue since February 2023.

June

June is around 3 years old and is about 50 pounds. According to the All About Animals Facebook page, June is always smiling. She isn’t a big fan of cats, but her calming nature would probably fit right in with children.

Paulie

“Paulie is one of our favorite dogs at the rescue. He is so well behaved & willing to pose for as many pictures as you want,” according to the shelter’s Facebook. Paulie is around 2 years old and is 70 pounds.

Hogan is a one and a half year old male pup. He’s currently 69 pounds and is ready to run, snuggle and be loved unconditionally.

Otis

Otis is a six month old male dog and is around 27 pounds. He’s great with other dogs and will be the sweetest companion.

The adoption fee includes all vaccinations, spay/neuter, flea and tick prevention, deworming and a microchip.
