If you're anything like me, you turn the calendar to February and instead of dreaming up Valentine's Day desserts or hunting down the best Valentine's Day gifts, you're in a panic: A panic over classroom Valentines.

When I was growing up in the 90s, the hardest part of classroom Valentines was deciding if you wanted the pre-made, perforated Beauty and the Beast Valentines or the Little Mermaid design. Scooby-Doo or Toy Story. Barbie or Trolls. You get the picture. No need to come up with a cheeky Valentine's Day message or rhyme, those were already there. Just scribble on your friends' names and bring them to school.

These days? Classroom Valentines are practically an Olympic event. A chance to not only show off your child's personality, but to also show how clever you are (or humble brag over how early ahead you ordered those heart-shaped watercolor palettes that sell out every year). A cute saying, of course. A matching toy that doesn't get tossed straight into the garbage on February 15th, a necessity. In short, the stakes are high.

So, what's a mom to do? Enter the jam jar Valentine. While many parents appreciate the move away from traditional candy Valentine (we've just barely finished their Halloween candy, people!), giving jam is still something sweet for them to spread on their toast the next morning. I've done the all-important work of designing you a Downloadable Valentine's Day Tag, so you're just on the hook for ordering the adorably petite jam jars.

To make: Once you have your jam, just slip them into a tissue paper-lined cellophane bag. Download, print, and cut out the "you're my jam" Valentine's Day cards and finish with a hole punch. Grab some coordinating red ribbon or pink-and-white twine and tie your bag, slipping your tag through the ribbon just after you finish the knot but before you finish your bow.
