Set on the Riviera Maya, between a mangrove reserve and the white sand beaches of the Mexican Caribbean, the serene, adults-only, all-inclusive Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Resort, opened its doors on January 30.

Paraiso de la Bonita, located just 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport, has 100 oceanfront suites, seven restaurants and bars, and a 22,000-square-foot spa center. There are three outdoor pools, including a saltwater pool and an infinity pool. The resort is a collaboration between Playa Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International—and the third all-inclusive hotel in Marriott's Luxury Collection portfolio, joining Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic and Almare on Isla Mujeres.

“Playa is thrilled to partner once again with Marriott, as The Luxury Collection brand seamlessly aligns with the unique character and ambiance of this exceptional property,” Fernando Mulet, executive vice president and chief investment officer of Playa Hotels & Resorts, told Travel + Leisure. “This collaboration strengthens our leadership in the all-inclusive segment, allowing us to introduce an innovative concept in a market where we already have a strong presence.”

Suites are decked in handcrafted furnishings and soothing neutral shades, with artwork and decor inspired by traditional Mexican artistry. The spacious accommodations, starting at 1,130 square feet, also come with soaking tubs and either a private terrace or balcony for taking in the beautiful beachfront views.

On the dining front, the resort’s four restaurants include K’uhul, spotlighting the local flavors of the Yucatán Peninsula; Joya, centered on charcoal and wood-fired cooking; the Mediterranean-influenced Côté à Costa; and Qin Qin, with a contemporary Chinese menu. As for bars and lounges, find Mi Lugar, piano bar Bonita, and all-day Buena Onda, with coffee and fresh juices in the morning and beachfront cocktails throughout the day. The property is also home to a 5,000-bottle wine cellar.

A centerpiece of the resort is the sprawling Thalasso Spa Center, which offers a menu of holistic treatments such as cacao wraps, massages with locally-sourced oils, or the signature Thalasso therapy that taps into the healing properties of seawater and marine mud. The spa also has a traditional Mayan steam bath, seawater hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and nine treatment rooms.

Beyond the wellness center, guests can choose from a long list of included activities like wine tastings, cooking classes, tennis, yoga, and snorkeling (some excursions, like private yacht outings and scuba diving adventures, cost an additional fee). Day trips are also easily accessible to attractions like Sian Ka’an Biosphere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, cenotes, and the ancient Mayan archaeological site Chichén Itzá.

Nightly rates at Paraiso de la Bonita start from $757, and you can book your stay at paraisodelabonita.mx.
